3 Ways to Support Local Plumbers

Happy New Year’s Eve! No matter how you’re choosing to say goodbye to this last year, it seems we’ll all be throwing a “good riddance” in there as well. What a year it’s been for each individual as well as our community as a whole. As local plumbers and small business owners, we watched the pandemic hit Columbus and just hoped to keep our heads above water. Thanks to our wonderful customers, amazing team, and strict COVID-19 protocols, we did. But not everyone came out on top this year.

Relationships are a big part of what we do as a Columbus plumbing company. Over the years, we’ve developed a special connection with many of our customers. We’re curious about the vacation you took. We remember that favorite scratch spot behind your yellow lab’s ear. And maybe most importantly, we give you tips on saving money with local plumbers and seasonal prep solutions for your home. Like so many local plumbers out there, we love our customers. We love our community. Knowing how much that simple connection matters to us and to our own customers, we’d like to suggest three ways that you can help preserve and support the local plumbers where you live.

With big companies gaining steam over the little guys throughout 2020, many folks are wondering how to support small businesses like their local plumbers. Three great ways to do this are by educating yourself on your local plumber’s COVID-19 policies, asking questions, and hiring local plumbers when you can.

Educate Yourself on Their COVID-19 Policies

Small businesses have taken many precautions to operate with your safety in mind. If you have a question about the logistics of doing an in-person estimate or project, give them a call or shoot an email over. As plumbers, they’ve been deemed essential from the get-go. That means they’ve probably had a lot of practice keeping things safe and efficient during the pandemic. This leads me to the second big one…

Ask Questions!

If you’re wondering about the price point of a project or just don’t know what’s going on with your gas or water line, please feel free to ask! We can’t speak for all local plumbers, but Plumbing One is happy to answer questions and suggest DIY plumbing fixes. As we mentioned in our post on the hottest home project of 2021, sometimes we’ll even just ask you to take a cell phone photo. When you text that to us, we can often give you a clear idea of what the problem is and what we suggest as far as next steps.

Hire Local Plumbers

When you have a plumbing issue, we know you have options. This has remained true even through the pandemic, as plumbing is considered an essential service. There are probably twenty companies and contractors you could choose from wherever you call home.

The big franchises will probably get the job done, but the thing about giant companies is that they so often don't prioritize the needs of individual homeowners. So, with appliance upgrades projected to rise through 2025, we have a proposition for you:

If you’re thinking about adding a backyard grill, consider calling a well-reviewed Columbus plumber (or a local plumber wherever you live). Instead of dialing Roto-Rooter the next time you have a broken garbage disposal, why not hire a small business that will go to bat for you and save you money where they can?

But however you solve your plumbing needs, we wish you the very best in 2021. It’s been a test of a year, and we’re glad to be on the other side of it with you.
